Bringing the community together is central to our organization.
Throughout the year we host events that bring together families and provide unique learning experiences for the students.
Fun Fair is Saturday, May 18th from 12-4 PM! See all the details here.
The Family Dinner Dance kicks off the school year with a huge outdoor party, complete with a DJ and pizza! This event typically occurs in the early fall and is fun for the whole family.
Fun Fair is an annual spring event that brings the whole school community together. Spring Street is transformed into a fun zone filled with games, crafts and food.
The Scholastic Book Fair takes over the media center every fall. Students are able to visit the Book Fair during school hours and it culminates with the Big Sale on parent teacher conference day.
Gift of Knowledge allows kids to celebrate their birthdays and donate a book to the Media Center with an exciting breakfast event that occurs before school.
Students participating in the Fun Run collect pledges for each lap run. This is a high energy event that the kids love as they race, dance and skip their way around the course!
Community Reading Day
Spring Street celebrates Community Reading by welcoming guest readers from the community into the school. Each class is treated to a different guest reader, which included representatives from local businesses, agencies and government.
In School Enrichment
We partner with local organizations to bring in-school enrichment programs to the school throughout the year. We have worked with organizations like Acton Discovery Museum and Tower Hill to bring interactive and hands-on STEM workshops to the students.
Teacher & Staff Appreciation
In appreciation of the amazing teachers and staff at Spring Street, the PTO hosts numerous events for them such as breakfasts and luncheons throughout the year and a full week of events for Teacher Appreciation Week in the spring.
Author Visits
Each year, the PTO facilitates a visit from local children’s book author, April Jones Prince. She conducts interactive workshops for grades K-2 and also does a presentation on “Writing a Brilliant Biography,” which kicks off the 2nd grade core curriculum biography project.
*This program is supported in part by a grant from the Shrewsbury Cultural Council, a local agency which is supported by the Mass Cultural Council, a state agency.
